Hey! Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me,
I'm not sleepy and there is no place I'm going to.
Hey! Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me,
In the jingle jangle morning I'll come followin' you.

Though I know that evenin's empire has returned into sand,
Vanished from my hand,
Left me blindly here to stand but still not sleeping.
My weariness amazes me, I'm branded on my feet,
I have no one to meet
And the ancient empty street's too dead for dreaming.

Hey! Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me,
I'm not sleepy and there is no place I'm going to.
Hey! Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me,
In the jingle jangle morning I'll come followin' you.

Take me on a trip upon your magic swirlin' ship,
My senses have been stripped, my hands can't feel to grip,
My toes too numb to step, wait only for my boot heels
To be wanderin'.
I'm ready to go anywhere, I'm ready for to fade
Into my own parade, cast your dancing spell my way,
I promise to go under it.

Hey! Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me,
I'm not sleepy and there is no place I'm going to.
Hey! Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me,
In the jingle jangle morning I'll come followin' you.

Though you might hear laughin', spinnin', swingin' madly across the sun,
It's not aimed at anyone, it's just escapin' on the run
And but for the sky there are no fences facin'.
And if you hear vague traces of skippin' reels of rhyme
To your tambourine in time, it's just a ragged clown behind,
I wouldn't pay it any mind, it's just a shadow you're
Seein' that he's chasing.

Hey! Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me,
I'm not sleepy and there is no place I'm going to.
Hey! Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me,
In the jingle jangle morning I'll come followin' you.

Then take me disappearin' through the smoke rings of my mind,
Down the foggy ruins of time, far past the frozen leaves,
The haunted, frightened trees, out to the windy beach,
Far from the twisted reach of crazy sorrow.
Yes, to dance beneath the diamond sky with one hand waving free,
Silhouetted by the sea, circled by the circus sands,
With all memory and fate driven deep beneath the waves,
Let me forget about today until tomorrow.

Hey! Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me,
I'm not sleepy and there is no place I'm going to.
Hey! Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me,
In the jingle jangle morning I'll come followin' you.

right-o, does anyone know if movable type 3.17 can be used on the fateback server? any techies out there, please help! ^_^

anyway, if anyone's wondering why i stopped putting up pics and notes from the trip, that's because i am doing that website i talked about earlier. don't imagine that this blog can handle all the images and text. there's too much to share. i've finished paris and berlin. two down, three to go.

wanted to watch alias just now, but inertia was again at work, and i didn't want to leave my computer for the telly. oh well. this second season has been fantastic, and i've heard it's really fantastic. in any case, it's the only show i can bear to watch jennifer garner in.

got my weekly dose of despearate housewives last night, after missing three episodes. love its quirkiness. only three more episodes! damn, i'll probably suffer from desperate withdrawal. sheesh.

trying to cobble together a website on the trip now. think using my blog will take up too much space. i think i've got a lot to say for each city, since there's more than meets the eye. and so many more pictures -- candid, posed, and the extraordinarily crappy. ha. i'll just stuff them on the site. but i've got to wait till we all meet up one day and swap pics to be able to finish it, so it'll take a while yeah?

my room's a mess. all the first year stuff are still lying around. depsite my description of my room being spacious, i think i should clear out the files and books soon for next year's "collection".

btw, has anyone been out shopping lately? is it just me or is this year's great singapore sale very lacklustre? was at suntec yesterday and was flabbergasted that mango wasn't having a sale. and all the shops i saw (dano, charles and keith, series, etc) looked like they were in the middle of september or something. in europe i had been looking forward very much to going around looking for bargains, so i'm pretty disappointed. doesn't bode well, does it?

i'm back! woohoo. the flight back from paris was the best flight i've ever taken. very minimal turbulence, fantastic food (they even gave us ice-cream!) and lots of leg room cuz we requested for the seats behind the kitchen (that's probably not the right term). watched robots, constantine and the wedding date too. was pretty jet lagged when i reached home, so i slept for five straight hours till dinner. still quite zonked out now. lol. but i'm relieved to be home. never thought my flat was spacious till today, and when i went into the bathroom to take a bath i had to orientate myself with the mass of bottles there. -grin-

so i bring u more pictures from the europe trip 2005:

we had an unpleasant encounter in paris, when two lads came up to us and sprayed us with egg cream. we were at a metro station which wasn't very busy, so maybe that's why they dared to do something like that. it just felt wrong, and with that single incident, our perception of paris changed. like, sure, it's a romantic city and all that, what with the eiffel tower and the river seine and notre-dame. but i suppose the incident reminded us that there's always more than meets the eye. for something to be good, there has to be something bad. yin and yang, day and night, you get the picture.

and it wasn't just paris. in berlin i saw a punk make an aggressive gesture at us and especially in the east (where we lived), we attracted lots of attention. paris we could see the distinction between the races, but at least everyone seemed friendly enough to each other. the germans of course are famous for being xenophobic, and it was all laid out for us to see. i only saw a handful of asians, and when we met this thai lady who runs a bookshop, she was overjoyed.

london was better, greater spectrum of people and it somehow felt safer. in paris and berlin, there was always this uneasiness. we all felt so free in london. perhaps it was the language, but i feel there was something else in london which made us relaxed. notts was a nice change from the capitals, but we saw goths again, though they didn't go all the way as they do in east berlin.

which brings me to edinburgh, which in my humblest of opnions, is my favourite city. the people are open and friendly, the town is picturesque and literally straight out of the storybooks and the air is clean and fresh. however the weather leaves much to be desired. it rained the day we came, and on the day we left. someone commented to us,"welcome to sunny scotland" when we arrived. it was so cold that our breaths condensed into clouds. and it's summer. really wonder how it's like in winter.

am thinking of setting up a website just for this trip. well, thinking.

the lot of us

hullo everyone! taking a breather at the university of nottingham. staying with my friend for the next four days before moving on to our last stop - edinburgh. so far it's been quite a memorable trip, which means that there's both the good and the bad memories. like i mentioned on my other blog, i'll talk about the not-so-nice stuff later.

paris was as romantic as it could get. it was a city always on the move, whether above ground or underground. we saw the eiffel tower at night, the louvre, the basilique of the sacred couer, notre dame, the river seine, st chapelle, and the centre pompidou. got a shock at the metro because we weren't aware that you have to open the doors yourself. queer thing isn't it, germany does it too. we were lucky to have met this malay lady from kl who took the metro to the same station as us, so at least we had someone to show the way in the first one or two hours. pretty scary, cuz there were only two of us, two girls wandering the streets of paris. we had to change accomodation for the second night because our hostel gave our room to someone else. turned out to be a blessing in disguise as we moved to a low cost hotel which was cheaper but was more comfortable than the hostel.

berlin was the odd place, since it had been divided by the wall for nearly half a century. the difference between east and west was stark, and in certain places rather disturbing. watched a greenpeace protest, saw lots of goths hangin' around, nearly had a street fight under our window, and saw two guys kissing passionately across our street. went with the brewer's walking tour and saw the wall, checkpoint charlie and the reichstag, among others. we also went to the sachenhausen concentration camp, where it rained and the wind blew across the huge expanse of the camp, and really added to the gloom of the place. the memorial was huge, but in it's 'heyday', it was at least three times as large. this camp isn't as famous aas dachau or auschwitz because it wasn't meant for the jews, but that doesn't make it any less notorious. in fact, it was also used by the soviets after their 'liberation' of berlin.

went to potsdam the next day, which was a nice change from berlin. postdam's just 24km outside of berlin, and it's very tranquil and scenic, what with the huge palace friederich the great built and the large open spaces with lots and lots of fresh air. i can see why friederich the great decided to move to potsdam from berlin. ;)

london was our next stop, and a very short one at that. had lots of trouble with my luggage, cuz i don't have a rucksack now. had to drag by luggage for nearly one km to our hostel. argh. i will not travel like this again. anyway, met up with the lse people, as well as vic in london, then we went to catch les miz. it was fantastic to see the musical again, i can really never get bored of it at all. first watched it in primary three, and have been listening to the original cast recording very often since then, but as i grew up, i came to appreciate more and more of the story. like at nine years old, i hated javert and really couldn't be bothered with his character. but now, in a twisted sort of way, i feel for him, for his sense of loss in his beliefs that were crushed in an instant. the cast was as good as i remembered the american touring cast that came in 1994, but i loved it nonetheless.

and so...after seeing the tower of london, visiting harrods and going past no. 10 downing street (didn't get a chance to meet tony), i'm here at nottingham to slack for four days in zj's place before going off to edinburgh.

i'll try to upload some pics now...let's hope it works. ;)
