many thanks to spacefan for the prop!

it's been a real interesting week since my birthday. i had a nice long weekend because of smec, but which i blew by going online and watching tv and day dreaming instead of concentrating on my books. the conscientious girl that i was, i dutifully did my cofm tutorial, only to find on wednesday that it would be postponed till two weeks' later. so not only were the hours spent the night before trying to understand this crazy hypertension study gone to waste, but the lot of us suddenly found ourselves with nearly four hours to spare. not surprisingly, my tut group (js, rod and greg) went over to holland road to have xo sliced fish soup. whoot. seven dollars for one bowl, but it was certainly and experience.

the next day, a larger group of us went to ikea for lunch (another ten bucks blown on roast beef and meatballs) before going to ah for pbl. and because our tutor was a good-looking lady surgeon several guys turned up just to be in her presence. but as they say, it takes all sorts to form the world, and at least one guy in the group nodded off. she did an endoscopy on rod (we saw his choncha, an event which excites only medical students) who gamely allowed us to take pictures of him with that black thing up his nostrils.

friday the class com celebrated maf and the september birthdays. someone brought lots of lightstick bangles and this amused prof t.m. quite a bit. everyone had a slice of mooncake while i had a slice of cheesecake. not bad, and our class went a little crazy and childish, waving all the bangles and squealing when the lights went out.

to end off the week i went back to my alma mater for an alumni gathering. quite all right, save for the fact that it started one hour late and there was no more food left after an ex english teacher had finished preaching to us. oh well.

and it's an off day for me today. caught the emmy's live, and was saddened to hear the passing of dana elcar whom i used to watch a lot on macgyver. i'm glad felicity huffman and jon stewart won in their respective categories; they're really good in their craft.

if only...
